Temporary Car Insurance Economics
Anyone who says that saving money is always good
never saved money with a temporary car insurance company. Those guys are
the absolute epitome of capitalism at its best and worst. They exist
solely to take money from people who can't afford real insurance, but
somehow they get to keep it all through equal parts funny wordings on
contracts and just straight up scam artistry. I think it's great and I
want to know how they do it.
That last part was sarcasm, of course.
The first time I had to go to court to defend myself against these
clowns will be my last. I'm sticking with getting screwed over by
insurance companies that I can actually find if I want to reek vigilante
vengeance upon the office.

About what you'd expect, I suppose. Now UK temporary car
insurance companies
do it
differently!! |
So I get into a wreck and I don't think this company
is going to pay for my damage, but I check the mail about one month
after it happened, and I get a letter saying that I owe them money for
the accident. It wasn't even my fault!
By their economics, I owe them money because I was a high risk to insure
in the first place and I was only accepted under the pretense that I
would not get into a wreck. Because I did, not only do I have to pay for
my damages, but I owe them money to reimburse the money they paid the
other guy. And what was incredible about the whole thing?
The judge bought it!
Granted, I came into court without a lawyer because I thought the charge
was so ludicrous that I wouldn't even have to pay someone to defend me.
Little did I know that people can put anything they want into a
contract, and just because someone is a judge doesn't mean that they
have any more of a grasp about what is right or wrong than anyone who
isn't, especially in a rural town like this one. I mean, if we impeached
anybody around here, I don't even know how we would get the word out to
anybody. We don't even get broadband Internet around here.
I ended up paying twice for a wreck that I didn't even cause. Funny
math, but hey, I guess it works for some.
